Task Modification of Pre-service Elementary Teachers - Focus on Geometric Tasks -

초등 예비교사의 수학과제 변형 사례 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the manner in which the elementary pre-service teachers modify mathematical tasks in the textbook. This study especially focused on modification of geometric tasks to conjecturing tasks. The findings of this study showed that elementary pre-service teachers modified mathematical tasks by changing questions, examples, contexts, and tools of tasks. We identified pre-service teachers’ ways of modifying questions, examples, contexts, and tools of geometric tasks. Pre-service teachers’ question modifications were mainly focused on adjusting hints for supporting students’ conjecturing. They also added alternative examples to clarify and discern meanings and components of mathematical concepts in mathematical tasks.
