The Korea Society of Educational Studies in Mathematics (KSESM) began as a seminar group on mathematics education in 1989 and was later founded in November 2, 1991. It is an academic society that was established to further advance new ideas and theories and research findings on practical issues in the field of mathematics education in Korea. KSESM currently holds the biannual Conferences in Spring and Autumn and two Intensive Seminars in Summer and Winter in order to  share  new ideas and research findings.

Two journals are currently published by the KSESM, which are listed on the KCI Accredi of NFR (National Research Foundation of Korea), respectively: Journal of Educational Research in Mathematics and School Mathematics. In these, published contributions that provide the results of studies delving into the theories and practices of mathematics education are strictly reviewed by leading researchers for the edification of others in this field.
